Ethan Owen

Co-founder & COO

Ethan, as co-founder and chief operating officer, brings a wealth of experience to Limn. With a degree in cultural anthropology and a certificate in international business from Cornell University and a masters in international policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, he has cultivated a keen insight into various perspectives, offering unique and innovative design solutions to common human challenges. He began his career in the realm of web design, where he applied his anthropological lens to create compelling digital experiences. Transitioning to user interface design and ultimately specializing in user experience and service design, Ethan has consistently championed a human-centered design approach. This methodology enables him to unravel customer needs, ensuring that every design decision is rooted in a deep understanding of the end user.

Ethan draws inspiration from the intersection of art, functionality, and human needs. His interest in design goes back to childhood summers spent in Israel, where he worked on the archeological excavations led by his father. The firsthand encounter with the remnants of ancient civilizations left an indelible mark, unveiling the complex relationship between form, function and place, and their profound impact on human needs.

Ethan believes that furniture is not just about filling a space; it's about adding character and storytelling to your environment. Each piece at Limn is meticulously crafted with attention to detail, using both Grade A sustainably harvested Indonesian teak and teak reclaimed from the buildings and spaces of old. Our designs aim to evoke emotions and serve as functional works of art that celebrate placemaking and stand the test of time.
